2011 Recap: Brandon Lloyd jumped from the Broncos to the Rams and never had a a good rapport with the QBs he worked with. He went from the #3 best fantasy WR in 2010 (77/1448/11) to the 29th (70/966/5) in 2011.
What’s Changed: Two words: Tom Brady. Two more: Josh McDaniels Let me list the QBs that Lloyd has worked with over his career: Tim Rattay, Ken Dorsey, Alex Smith, Mark Brunell, Jason Campbell, Todd Collins, Kyle Orton, Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford, A.J. Feeley, and Kellen Clemens. To say Brady is an upgrade is the biggest understatement ever made. McDaniels made Lloyd a star in 2010 and although the two reconnected in St Louis, the QB issues were never ironed out. Now he is in New England with Brady, The Hoodie, and the Whiz Kid. Rumor is that he already has a firm grasp on the playbook (Ocho, where you at?) and a nice rapport with Brady.
Outlook: Some say there won’t be enough balls to go around (insert joke) in this offense, but if you remember the 2007 version of this offense then you know Darth Belichick will not take his foot off the gas just to show mercy. Although the offense was tough last year, they were missing a deep threat desperately. Brandon Lloyd gives them an instant upgrade over Deion Branch and will give the team the component they will be able to utilize will all the skill they have underneath. A nice addition to The Brady Bunch and your fantasy squad.
