2011 Recap: Peyton Hillis was once the #2 fantasy RB in the lands. It only last one season. Call it the Madden Curse, injuries, his contract in the back of his mind, or maybe it was just the fact that Hillis wasn’t that great, but 2011 was a freakin’ disaster. I think it was a combination of things, but the Chiefs are giving him a fresh start.
What’s Changed: Hillis signs with the Chiefs and won’t have the pressure of being the #1 guy in town and the only threat on the offense. The Chiefs have Jamaal Charles, Jon Baldwin, Dwayne Bowe, and Tony Moeaki to get this offense going, so Hillis will only have to find his place in the offense. If we look back to 2010, we can get a blueprint of how the Chiefs want their offense to go. Run the hell out of the ball and set up Matt Cassel with easy throws off of play action.
Outlook: I have to admit I really like what Hillis may bring to the offense this season. He is a good receiver out of the back field and should be their guy in short yardage. All indications are that the Chiefs are impressed with him and he had a big game in limited time in his preseason debut. You have to remember that BOTH Charles and Thomas Jones were fantasy options in 2010, but Hillis is just a bigger, better version of that TJ. I love his value and think he has a ton of upside, especially in PPR leagues.
