I’ll Pass On: Andre Johnson

You’re doing me dirty Juan…

2011 Recap:  To be fair Andre Johnson was having a pretty nice season until a nasty hamstring injury in week four pretty much ended his fantasy season.  He did come back to TJ Yates and a decent playoff run of 201 yards and a TD against the Bengals and Ravens.  Not necessarily push overs.

What’s Changed:  The Texans had to do what they had to do last season on offense.  They shifted their philosophy to a run first team behind their dominant O-line and Foster/Tate.  They shifted their TEs around to get the best matchups, but without any presence out side they failed to be an elite passing team.  It didn’t help that Schaub was knocked out too.  The defense is now a top 5 unit and they don’t have to play in shootouts anymore.

Outlook:  Andre Johnson is a beast, but over his 9 year career he has never had double digit TDs.  I’d say that’s a trend.  The Texans have shifted their offense to revolve around Foster and the running game.  With the recent “minor” groin injury at training camp, I just get behind the Texans WR at his current ADP.  With guys like Newton, Gronk , and Julio right around the same draft positions, I’m not risking a minor injury turning into a season threatening injury.  I’ll pass.
