“You really can’t play unless you can protect the quarterback,” Coughlin said today. Well gone is the best pass blocking RB they had in Ahmad Bradshaw, so the battle will be between the electric David Wilson and the bruising Andre Brown. Here is how the Giants RB faired last season courtesy of ProFootballFocus:
Andre Brown as easily better than David Wilson last season, but the rookie has made strides in camp. A couple things to keep in mind when thinking of both of these runners for fantasy this season. Wilson reportedly has looked explosive and decisive while running the ball, while still making ‘spectacular’ receptions. Brown proved last season he can get the ball in the endzone when given the chance (best in the NFL at goaline carry conversion rate). The biggest with Brown has been his ability to stay healthy. If he goes down, Wilson will be in line for 20 plus touches in my mind. If both stay healthy, Brown holds more value than people are giving him credit.
This battle is far from over and we could see a starter emerge in the upcoming weeks. We will be keeping a close eye on this situation.
