Seems like a lot of experts are down on Marshawn Lynch this season. I get it, but I don’t get it. After really breaking out last season, he received a new contract and showed up to camp a leaner 215, down 7 lbs from last season. He should be quicker and more explosive than he has ever been this season. So why all the Marshawn hate?
Well, first is the DUI incident that is looming over the dredded head of Lynch. But, let’s be honest here, where’s the smoke? No smoke, no fire. It doesn’t look like there will be any suspension in 2012 as Lynch wasn’t in the substance abuse program, so it’s not like this is strike two or three like in the case of Ken Britt.
Last season Lynch did most, if not all of his damage with crap at QB and Sidney Rice on the shelf. Now the young WRs, Baldwin/Tate are stepping up, T.O. is looking good, and Matt Flynn is an upgrade over Tavaris Jackson. There are still questions about the health of the offensive line, but it can’t be worse than last season.
With very few RBs handling full time duties these days, it’s hard to imagine passing on Lynch who will receive possibly 300 touches or more. Will he hit 1,400 total yards and 13 TDs again? I think he comes close enough to take him in the second round.
Maybe I’m a man on an island when it comes to Marshawn Lynch, but I could survive as long as I had a lifetime supply of Skittles.
