Russell Wilson will start the third preseason game for the Seahawks…so what does this mean? Well, Pete Carroll isn’t exactly a go by the blueprint kind of a guy and the Seahawks love this kid. From the beginning they said he will compete for the starting job. I laughed at first, but this is real. Matt Flynn did have a perfectly thrown bomb dropped by T.O., but has looked pedestrian with 17/26 for 102 yards with a pick (albeit vs starting defenses) vs Wilson’s 22/33 for 279 yards passing, an INT, 92 yards rushing, and a rushing TD (albeit vs backups).
This will be a true test for the rookie, but if can step up and really prove that he can be the starter, than Carroll could pull the trigger. With his playmaking ability with both his arm and legs, he could be a sneaky fantasy QB2. While all the talk has been about Luck and RG3 (rightfully so), Wilson was a highly touted draft pick that dropped in the draft due to his 5’11 stature. Russell Wilson is a man of interest in this third week of the preseason to see if he has what it takes to win the starting job in the Great Northwest.
