Right when I heard the news of Reid to the Chiefs and Kelly to the Eagles, my first though was that Andy Reid would trade for Nick Foles. He loves the kid and the Chiefs don’t have a starter currently on the roster. The Chiefs hold the #1 pick in the draft, but there is no QB that will garner that pick. With Vick restructuring to play for the Eagles in 2013, the organization could look to move Foles who may or may not fit the Chip Kelly system.
The Eagles are releasing statements that Foles is available for a first or second round pick, but I would be shocked if someone goes through with giving up that steep of a price for Foles. There are few starting QBs in free agency and no slam dunk starters in the draft, so the Eagles may be looking for some leverage in getting compensation for Foles. It would seem that the Chiefs make the most sense for Foles as he knows the system and fits a team need. Look for things to heat up heading into April’s draft.
New Chiefs general manager John Dorsey: “There is no quarterback where personnel guys can definitely say, ‘He’s a first-round pick,’ ” Dorsey said. “There were so many inconsistencies in the collective group. There was not one guy that stood up and said, ‘I’m the guy in the position this year.’ There really wasn’t one clear-cut guy.
“There are too many technical flaws, scheme flaws. There are so many different variables that there are a lot of people all over the place on naming the top four or five guys and who those guys would be.”
