Coby Fleener disappointed a bit in his rookie season due to inconsistencies and injuries. Coming into his second season all indications are that Fleener is making big strides under his former OC from Stanford Pep Hamilton. Here is what his OC is saying about the talented TE:
Pep Hamilton: “Probably having the most productive camp, including his time at Stanford, that I’ve seen. In the time that I’ve been around Coby, he’s a lot more explosive and confident right now and he’s making plays that big-time NFL players tend to make.”
Fleener is a ‘move’ TE that can get vertical. The guy can run. The Colts will look to use multiple TE sets and get Fleener down the seam. Dwayne Allen is a more complete TE and will most likely be asked to stay in and block. Andrew Luck could take a hug leap this year and Fleener could be one of the guys that mosts benefits from his jump.
