These Player Spotlight articles that will take a look at the player’s stats, their future match ups, consistency and current rank in position. Hit the jump to check out Matt Forte.
Matt Forte is having a breakout season for the Bears. He hasn’t broken 100 yards rushing in a game yet this season but he is sitting on 90+ all purpose yards each week. Forte has only tasted the end zone 3 times this year which makes him a much better candidate for PPR leagues as he has 4+ receptions per game. Since Forte is such a dual threat, the Bears can take advantage of opposing defenses’ weaknesses much easier than having a pure rushing tailback. Even their upcoming game against the Packers, who allow the 3rd least rushing yards, rank 28th against the pass. That’s great news for Cutler and the entire receiving corp. Forte has been one of the most consistent RBs this season as well as overall. I would certainly trade for him if I could. Forte ranks 6th among Running Backs this season in ESPN’s Standard scoring and 2nd of those with 4 or less TDs. A 2 touchdown game likely bumps him up to #4.
Week 8 Rank: 4th (+2)
Week 8 Stats: 535 yards /6 TDs /35 recs /262 yards
