John Harbaugh has been impressed with the improvements of second year WR Torrey Smith in camp. After just missing so many big plays in his rookie season, Smith may be ready to break out. Harbaugh raved:
“(His) route-running’s improved. He’s improved his hands. He’s improved with understanding the blitz package, when he’s hot and when he’s not. He’s improved downfield with his blocking,” Harbaugh said. “Really, everything he’s gotten better.”
I haven’t touched on Smith very much yet, but he is definitely on my radar as news about Smith’s and Joe Flacco’s improvements this off season. If they can connect on half of the plays they left on the field in 2011, he will be a breakout player in 2012.
