Trent Richardson came into week 7 with a monster matchup and some bruised ribs. After getting in a full week of practice and getting fitted for a flak jacket, it looked like all systems go.
After 8 carries for 8 yards, he was ‘benched’ in favor for Hardesty for went 7/28 on the ground against a team that made Shonn Greene look like Walter Payton.
After the game here is what Richardson had to say:
“That’s something you will have to ask Pat [Shurmur],” Richardson noted after the game. “For me, I thought I should have been in the game, but that’s any athlete, anyone who has that fight in him and is competitive. I’m proud of what Montario did. He always does a great job when he gets in. Coach made a smart decision.”
This is worth watching in the upcoming weeks, as Richardson may not be 100% for an extended period of time. If he’s not 100% and ineffective we may see more and more Hardesty.
