You don’t need me to tell you to start Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Cam Newton, or Matthew Stafford…my mom could figure that out. Let’s look at some other matchups that could be favorable this week:
RG3 @ NO
The Saints are going to pile on the point as no team has been able to slow down Brees and company when they play in the dome. What does that mean for RG3? He will have to run, throw, and possible sell hot dogs in the stands in order to keep pace. Tons of fantasy points in this one.
Philip Rivers @ Oak
Rivers has owned the Raiders over his career and in his last 4 tilts vs The Black Hole he has averaged 300+ yards passing and 2 TDs. Should matchup that average on MNF.
Jake Locker vs NE
Jake Locker and friends will have throw a ton in this game as The Brady Bunch will light up the scoreboard, early and often. Even sans Kenny Britt, the Titans have enough weapons on offense to put up some serious fantasy points.
Sam Bradford @ Det
Bradford gets a bad rap. After a great rookie year, his sophomore campaign was full of injury and had a lack of weapons. Danny Amendola is back, Brian Quick is coming along and Steven Smith has impressed, so he finally has some weapons. The Lions are going to score a ton, so look for plenty of late fantasy points. If you need a deep sleeper or someone in a 2 QB league, you could take a flier on Bradford.
Jay Cutler vs Indy
I like Cutler as a top 10-12 QB this season, but he may not have to throw a ton in this game. This could be all about the duo of Matt Forte and Michael Bush. It wouldn’t surprise me to see a decent stat line at the end of the day, but the upside is minimal.
Andy Dalton @ Bal
AJ Green will always make Dalton decent, but this matchup has bust written all over it for Opie Taylor. He probably is only your second QB, but if you are in a 2 QB league, I would start Locker, Bradford, or even Russell Wilson over Dalton.
Matt Ryan @ KC
Shocked? Don’t be. Matt Ryan plays terrible on grass as last season he threw only 6 TDs vs 4 INTs on grass and threw 23 TDs vs INTs on grass. I do expect a breakout season for his offense, but going to Arrowhead to face this defense is like walking into a buzzsaw. Just ask Aaron Rodger’s owners who got killed at KC in week 16 last year.
Peyton Manning vs Pit
I know Peyton and the Broncos will be pumped up for this matchup, but this could be a low scoring, grind it out kind of a game. Peyton did light up the Steelers the last time he played them, but that was back in 2008. This is a very tough matchup for PM.
