Week 8 Recap
The Eagles are in free fall and more changes could be on the way after Reid dropped a game after having the bye week. This just never happens. It was hinted that we could see Nick Foles sooner rather than later this season and we just get him next Sunday. Mike Vick said this after the game.
“Obviously, he’s thinking about making a change at the quarterback position,” Vick said of Andy Reid. “The thing I do know, and I’ll go watch the film and I’ll evaluate myself, is that I’m giving us every opportunity to win. I’m trying my hardest. Something don’t go right when I want them to. Some things do. If that’s a decision that coach wants to make, then I support it.”
Not exactly the words of a guy who sounds confident is retaining the starting job. Foles has to be on out radar as the Saints and their putrid D are first up. If Reid pulls the trigger on the switch, we should be ready to pounce.
Dwyer looks like a pro-typical Steelers RB. A big guy who gets downhill and makes tacklers pay. Not many guys will be looking forward to taking him on one-on-one in the 4th quarter. He now has back-to-back 100 yard efforts, something that Mendenhall has NEVER accomplished in his 5 year career.
Luck is now 4-3 as he picked up his first road win of the season. He threw for 297 yards and the game winning score to Vick “Neo” Ballard who scored on this awesome play. Lnuck is only behind RG3, Cam, and Vick in rushing yards for a QB this season and only RG3 has more rushing TDs.
I don’t expect to see him at practice much this week, if at all. His knee is not 100% by any stretch of the imagination. Megatron: “It’s tough to stick my foot in the ground with my knee hurting, but that’s not excuse.” The funny thing is Megatron stats are not as bad as one would think. Through 7 games a year ago, Calvin Johnson had 41 receptions and 679 yards. He has 41 for 638 through 7 this year, the difference is the lack of TDs. The ultimate buy low is still a buy low.
Titus Young and Ryan Broyles
With Calvin demanding so much attention and Nate Burleson on IR, the youngsters stepped up big time today against a very tough defense. Broyles has a respectable 3/37/1, but Young went off for 9/100/2. Young finally stepped up after not breaking out early in the season and the switch could of finally turned on.
5 carries? 8 touches? That’s how you use your best player Romeo. Doesn’t sound like he knew what was going on either. Crennel on why JC only received 5 carries: ”Now, that I’m not exactly sure either.” The Chiefs are a complete disaster and we can only hope that Dwayne Bowe gets shipped somewhere where he can be useful.
Playing against him today in PPR leagues was torture. Witten dropped 18 receptions on the Giants for a whopping 167 yards. Not too shabby. Miles Austin and Dez Bryant added 100 yards plus a piece and I’m sure you have seen Dez’s near miss TD with seconds left in the game.
If you just looked at the box score, you wouldn’t get the whole story. His ‘receivers’ dropped 10 passes in this game and Griffin finished with 16/34 for 177 yards. He could of had another really solid game through the air, although the Steelers shut down the Redskins rushing attack. There is only so far RG3 can go through the air without weapons or at least guys that can catch the damn ball.
I for one shyed away from Trent Richardson this week against a tough run defense and more importantly his ribs could of ended his day at any time. I guess I was wrong. T-Rich had a monster day and made a fool out of me. Play him with confidence.
The Chargers were supossed to ‘dumb down’ their offense today because of the weather, and boy was it dumb. Mathews fumbled, but at least he kept his job and the passing game was non-existent coming off of two week preparation. Norv is on the hot seat, right where he should be. I don’t care what the conditions, you have to come away with more than 6 points against the Browns.
Shorts has looked like the go-to guy for Gabbert to me. Even with Gabbert missing most of last week’s game, Shorts has 12/195/1 in the last 2 weeks. He has plenty of favorable matchups left and the Jags will be throwing a ton.
For him and his fantasy owners a move to a team like Green Bay would be optimal for Action Jackson. Alex Green has been ho-hum through the last three weeks and the Packers could really use the services. Let’s see if there is any action by Tuesday.
